Chapter 19; A New Age

/Galathground (or Hal’s Prison)

The cloaked figure walked in.

He had no care that the guards looked shocked as to who it was entering, for he had a key. No one was going to stop him now. His work here was about to be done. What he’d wanted for the longest time now stared at him right in the face. He was going to achieve everything, very soon. The hours of double faced work he’d put in, the amount of death, destruction, despair, and whispering slithers he’d brought into the world was now going to pay off. Everything he’d dreamed of since he was a child was soon going to be his.

All he had to do was click a bolt and let a not-so-free man be free again.
At which price this came, he knew. He knew what he was giving up. But he was an accomplished man, and he wasn’t going to stop now. This was only the beginning.

A gilded torch guided his light into the prison, as he searched for a companion.

A companion found.

‘It is done?’ The man asked from behind a prison cell. His dark blue hair flocked on his shoulder as he eerily looked up at his friend.

The friend brought the torch closer. An intense fire burned.

‘It is done.’

‘The boy and his father, yes?’ The blue haired man questioned.

‘Yes, both.’

‘Good. We’ll let them play at this game for a few weeks. Come the time, they won’t know what hit them. They don’t understand the power of The Triad.’

‘Indeed.’ The cloaked figure mysteriously said. ‘Lord Altheas, just one thing.’

He raised his head, ‘Yes?’

‘I am a man of simple tastes, of simple beginnings, and of a simple nature. However, the things I posses, things that serve me, are of a highly complex nature. My entire environment is a complex world, and why? Because we live in a complex world. We do not get what we ask for. Only the sword and poisons bring it to us. And I was never a true wielder of swords, so my realm belongs in the latter.’

‘Wait,’ Altheas said, raising himself, a little shocked, ‘You mean to poison—’

‘Yes. Certain desires need to be fulfilled for our… companionship to carry on.’

Altheas breathed deeply. ‘Fine. I won’t kill him.’

‘Good. I look forward to seeing more of you.’

The bolt was unlocked, and he walked out alongside the cloaked figure.

‘Oh, your mace.’ The man said, handing it to Altheas.

‘Good. Dalice’ll keep the guards away.’

And the guards did indeed start rushing in. Brave warriors cloaked in dark green, radiant with bravery and proud with the Crocodilian ren-call emblazoned on their armours. Six or seven of them rushed into the cells at first.

‘Go on, my friend. I’ll handle these.’ He said, gesturing to the cloaked man to walk out.

The cloaked man walked out.

Gentle footsteps sounded against the polished marble floor, as the mysterious man casually walked out.

A buzz came from inside the prison cells, and a blue coloured light with it too. He did not wish to turn around; he let his ears do the work.

The sound of men frying as fire burned them sounded from within the cells—a static sound buzzed as the men screamed in terror. The two guards at the gate ran right past the cloaked figure and into the main prison area. Today he’d learned a certain dream of his was beginning to materialise. A shadow of a thought in his mind was beginning to turn into a shadow dawning over the past.
